My Bio
I’ve never been to good with words which is one of the reasons I love to make art. It allows me to express all the ideas I have floating about my head that I’m unable to say. I find this act of creation to be sublime, even with my darker pieces, and I’m always looking for new ways to improve my technique so as to better convey these ideas.

I prefer painting with inks. I find inks fluid enough to give me the effects that I want. I apply the ink using a dropper or a syringe and then blow air through a straw to get the patterns that emerge. I believe that by focusing on my subject while doing this, I get the patterns I need to best convey the message behind the painting.

I have long held the belief that the meaning behind an artistic piece is ambiguous. There is the meaning it holds for the artist and there is the meaning it holds for the observer. It is because of this that I am usually hesitant to explain the meaning behind my work. I fear that doing so would prevent the observer from seeing it for themselves.

I don't know how many of you heard about the David Wojnarowicz piece that was pulled from the Smithsonian http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/01/hide-seek-portrait-congressional-investigation_n_790521.html , but as a former Christian, here's what I think. One: If your faith feels attacked by a work of art, your faith is probably not that strong to begin with. Someone strong in there faith wouldn't be phased by this. If any thing, a truly compassionate Christian would wonder whether or not anyone had ever witnessed to the individual. Two: If a work of art offends you, then don't go see it. It's just that simple. Jesus Christ (pun intended) d

Artwalk Weekend

0 min read
Well, the Artwalk was this weekend, and it was a success! At least as far as my first time appearing in public with my work goes. I got a lot of exposure and feed back, which was good. And I actually sold a piece, which was awsome. Friday night, a bunch of neuroscience students came to my tent and started interpeting my abstract work in terms of neuroscience, which I thought was pretty cool. One of them bought a piece I had done called Burnout because it reminded him of a neuron firing. Unfortunately, this was a piece that I never got around to photographing so it's not in my gallery. However, 'Melancholy Glance' http://transitionalnoise.dev

So last night was the Artwalk Preamble which is basically a fundraiser for the Birmingham Artwalk. All artists attending the Artwalk are asked to donate a piece for the preamble art auction. After narrowing it down to my two favorite pieces that I'm willing to let go of, I decided to go with Open Window http://transitionalnoise.deviantart.com/art/Open-Window-updated-163929567?q=&qo= as I thought it had the better technique. This was officially the first time that one of my paintings was publicly displayed. While it only went for about a quarter of my initial retail price (which was still better than I thought it would do), I thought it looked

No prob, you do great work. If I could afford your prints, I'd buy them as well.
